June's Spotlight Soiree!

1. I am in love with this Island Cooler recipe from Kari of This, Too. It sounds so yummy and perfect for summer, and I love the pineapple cup she made for it!
2. These Coral Orange Mum Earrings are lovely! Wanda makes them in a bunch of different colors, but I think the coral are my favorite....or the aqua. :)
3. Alexandra shared the most amazing Circus-inspired photo shoot on her blog a few weeks ago. The styling was amazing, and it really reminded me of that one Panic At The Disco music video.
4. This cardigan! Ahh! It's so pretty! I seriously get super excited when there are new arrivals in the Ever+Mi.Crush shop. They always carry the cutest clothes and accessories.
5. This cloud necklace from The Silver Shed is the bee's knees. It's so beautifully handcrafted! Every cloud has a silver lining...
6. Elle just got a bunch of new items in her vintage shop, and I'm dying over this vintage floral dress. All it needs is a floppy hat and sunglasses and then it'd be perfect for the beach!
7. I think if I owned these Pink Swedish Hasbeens from Emerging Thoughts, I'd wear them every day. They're just so pretty!

Sunday Girl

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Yesterday was Father's Day, and my family had a blast spoiling my dad with fun gifts and good food. I wore this outfit out while shopping for him. The gift I wanted to get him was Dad Is Fat by Jim Gaffigan (you know, the Hot Pockets guy), who is one of his favorite comedians. In true Mandypants fashion, I waited until the last minute to go shopping. After searching Walmart and not finding it, I headed up to Barnes & Noble and, after searching the store for 15 minutes with the help of 2 salespeople, I was lucky enough to get the very last copy in stock! It was pretty stressful at the time, but it made for an excellent story when I gave him the book so it was worth it.

I'm completely in love with this dress for summer. It's so breezy and light, and I love that the straps criss-cross in the back. I wore this dress last year and looking back, I can't believe how much difference a year makes. Last year (and up until recently, really), I was TERRIFIED of showing my arms in public. I felt so self-concious about them, and wouldn't leave the house in a sleeveless dress without a cardigan or jacket. I became brave this year, and stopped worrying about what others would think. I also realized that wearing a cardigan didn't make me any thinner....people could still see that I was a curvy gal, so why not embrace it and show off some skin? Wearing cardigans in the summer is ridiculous and no fun. I'm proud to say that I'm enjoying the sun and heat this year in some beautiful sleeveless dresses, and guess what? I feel great about myself. It's going to be a fantastic summer. xo, Mandy

52 Weeks of Smoothie: Vanilla Honey Oatmeal

Here's another breakfast-inspired smoothie! I love jazzing up my morning oatmeal with some honey and vanilla flavoring...almonds and bananas are really good toppings too. This was my inspiration for this week's smoothie, and I was able to create a super delicious drink that is perfect for breakfast!
Vanilla Honey Oatmeal Smoothie, serves 1
1 medium banana
1 cup vanilla greek yogurt (you can use regular yogurt as well)
1/2 cup raw oats
1-2 Tbsp honey
1 small handful raw slivered almonds
1 Tbsp flax seeds (optional)
3/4 cups fresh spring water
Ice cubes

Mandy's June Wishlist!

This wishlist is definitely one of my favorites. I love June...it's the start of summer and the things I'm wishing for are definitely reflecting the season. I'm craving more tropical colors in my life, and the easiest way for me to incorporate those colors are with accessories and cute nail polishes. I'm still gaga for pretty florals, and I'm looking for unique planters to bring some flowers into my home. I really love these planters, they remind me of the piranha plants from Super Mario. :) I've also found the next Chuck Palahniuk book that I want to read. I wish I would've found it sooner so it could be part of my summer reading list. If I'm able to read quick enough, I might be able to squeeze it in there.
