DIY Cinnamon Stick Coasters

Today I wanted to share a really fun and easy DIY to make your own holiday coasters using......cinnamon sticks! I saw a pack of decorative cinnamon sticks at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago and thought it would be kind of cool to figure out a way to turn them into something other than a potpourri centerpiece. Thus, these coasters were born!
Supplies needed: Yarn in any color (I chose cranberry and cream for a Christmas-y look, but you can go with any color(s) you prefer), decorative cinnamon sticks from any craft store, scissors
Directions: 1. Cut 4 strands of yarn about 20 inches long (2 strands for the top of the coaster, 2 strands for the bottom). Placing the top part of a cinnamon stick in the middle of 2 strands of yarn, tie a knot. Now, place the bottom part of the cinnamon stick in the middle of the other 2 strands of yarn and tie a knot. 2. Add another cinnamon stick next to the first one and tie 2 more knots, one at the top part of the cinnamon stick and one at the bottom. 3. Repeat Step 2 until your coaster is big enough. The coasters I made took about 8 sticks each. 4. Tie little bows at the end of your coasters and cut off any excess yarn. And you're all done!
My favorite thing about these coasters is that they smell lightly of cinnamon, and it just adds a nice little touch to the house. I really had fun making them and hope you guys will too. Happy crafting! xo Mandy
