This week, I wanted to try a smoothie inspired by my favorite childhood combo...peanut butter + jelly! I thought this would be a great flavor combo to use for a breakfast smoothie. I had also been wanting to try plain oatmeal in a smoothie because I'd heard it was really good, so I figured this was the perfect recipe to try it out on. What I ended up creating was the most delicious smoothie I have ever tasted. It was sweet, creamy, and packed full of protein and nutrients. The perfect breakfast to start your day!

- 1 banana, sliced and frozen
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 Tbsp peanut butter
- 2 Tbsp plain, uncooked oatmeal
- 3 Tbsp slivered, raw almonds
- 1 cup milk
- 1 Tbsp flax seed (optional)
- 2 to 3 squirts of liquid Stevia (optional, to taste)
I'm seriously having a blast making smoothies almost daily. They're a great meal replacement and a yummy way to incorporate a bunch of fruits and vegetables into your diet. These paired with clean eating have had huge impacts on my health already. I have so much more energy now than I used to, and I've lost 3 lbs! Yay!
Have you discovered any surprising smoothie/juice combos? Which ones are your favorite? xo, Mandy

i also got the nutribullet recently with the resolution to make it a daily habit. it's a lot of fun, and this looks delish! i will definitely give it a try. have you found that it is hard to cram as many fruits and veggies in there as they say? i reach the max fill line so quickly!
ReplyDeleteMy dad has always put oatmeal in his smoothies and homemade drink concoctions, but I never understood and I didn't dare try it, but maybe I will next time, haha.
ReplyDeleteOoohhh yum!! I never thought about putting oatmeal in my smoothies. I'm usually pretty basic..bananas, strawberries, almond milk and some honey. I have flax seed and stevia just sitting there waiting to be used...now I know what I'm making for breakfast tomorrow! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI think I could live of this stuff. Thanks for the input! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, this sounds amazing! I usually just eat a straight up PB&J for breakfast but this is way cooler. I don't have nearly enough ingredients for it, can you just let me have yours? lol
ReplyDeleteAwesome work on losing 3 lbs!!! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite smoothie is a banana, honey, and soy milk smoothie. I am lactose intolerant so I have had to play around with recipes to account for the soy milk taste and this one is THE BEST!
Peel, and freeze 2 bananas the night before then toss then in the blender with 1 cup of soy milk and 1 tbsp of honey and blend. It is this delicious, creamy and sweet smoothie surprise.
Let me know if you try it out/if you like it! Keep up the great work!
Congrats on the lost weight and extra energy! It's lovely to hear someone taking a positive approach to healthy eating, most people just like to grumble! Have you tried the blended frozen banana, or watermelon? A great substitute for ice-cream :)
ReplyDeleteOh, yum! A PB&J smoothie sounds absolutely delicious. And congrats on the three pounds! What a great start to the year! I've been trying to eat healthier too and I've been making some really yummy salads lately. Yay for being healthy :)

This is super similar to the smoothie I made this morning! How crazy! I had oats, frozen raspberries, frozen banana, honey and milk!
ReplyDeleteI used oats yesterday and loved it but today I put too much in but it was still good! Oats make the smoothies more fulling I have found!

My favorite smoothie was one I came up with for post workouts:
ReplyDelete1 cup greek yogurt, 1 cup water, 1 cup frozen strawberry/banana and 1 scoop chocolate protein powder. It's ~350 cals and has 50g of protein iirc. I don't have a blender at my new place but I miss smoothies so much! Your recipe looks delicious. :)
DUDE. YUM. <3
