I must say that while the smoothie was pretty good, I don't think I'm much of a beet person. At least when it's in juice/smoothie form. I wanted to share the recipe today though, for all of my beet-loving readers. (Also, anyone remember The Beets from the cartoon Doug? Totally wish they were a real band.)

1/3 small beet, diced into smaller pieces
1/2 medium red apple
6-8 baby carrots
1 small handful raw almonds
1 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp flax seed (optional)
1 Tbsp chia seed (optional)
1 cup fresh spring water
1-2 handfuls crushed ice
1 squirt liquid stevia (optional, to taste)
I hope everyone enjoys this recipe! Let me know your thoughts on beets. Love them or hate them? How do you like to prepare them? xo, Mandy

Sounds like a great recipe, and it has such a lovely vibrant colourxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful colour - I wouldn't mind a dress in that shade. ;) I haven't put beets in my smoothies in ages, so thanks for the reminder.

Ohhh, I should totally try a smoothie with beets! I've noticed I have a hard time putting veggies in my smoothies, but I just might have to do it and let you know how it goes.
ReplyDeleteThis looks delicious though :)

ReplyDeleteI love beets straight out of the can, but I'm not sure that I would like this. :s And of course I remember The Beets. I love them so much that I played 'killer tofu' on the radio show I had a couple years ago! -Cait

Hmm, I do like beets as they are, not entirely sure I'd like them in a smoothie, but then again, there are a lot of odd combinations that I wouldn't expect to like, but still do!
ReplyDeleteThe color is gorgeous! I have a thing about the color of smoothies. I've never tried beets before but now I'm intrigued.
