52 Weeks of Smoothies: Healthy Orange Julius

One of my favorite fruity drinks is an Orange Julius. It's such a refreshing drink, perfect for spring and summer. Unfortunately, it's loaded with sugar and calories...definitely not healthy. I didn't want to have to miss out on this yummy treat, so I decided to create my own healthy version! I found this recipe on Gimme Some Oven and adapted my recipe from her's. Enjoy!
Healthy Orange Julius, serves 1
1 orange, peeled (remove any seeds)
4-6 baby carrots (not necessary, but I like adding them for extra health benefits)
1 cup orange juice
1/2 cup almond milk
1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp flax + chia seeds (optional)
1-1 1/2 cups crushed ice
You can easily change the flavor of this smoothie by using mango, strawberry, or pineapple instead of oranges. I think a strawberry mango julius would be super delicious! xo. Mandy

  7. I just got a blender not that long ago and will soon be getting a pantry so it can live out above the cupboards. I expect that between that and all your tasty-looking posts, this will be a smoothie filled spring/summer. c:

  9. I've been on this crazy health kick lately (I say crazy because most everyone thinks I am for giving up sugar and grain...) and it's hard to find "treats." I just got a blender for my birthday and I can't wait to try this out! Thank you so much!

  10. I am on this crazy diet (and I say crazy because everyone thinks I am crazy for giving up sugar, grain, dairy and soy at the same time) and it's hard to find "treats." I just got a blender for my birthday and I can't wait to try this out! Thank you so much!
